A Voice of Hope Retreat

A Voice of Hope Retreat allows Indigenous Women who are going through treatment or in recovery the ability to reconnect with themselves, their culture and a community of women.  The retreat is culturally safe for Indigenous women supporting them to heal their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being, while empowering them to wellness and strength as leaders when they return to their home communities.  The Voice of Hope retreat provides an opportunity for Indigenous women’s wellness model in very personal and collective ways.

The sharing circle remains the fundamental healing tool utilized at the retreat.  The circle allows the women to feel culturally safe to share their stories about cancer. As culturally safety is an outcome for the women, they can break though the bondage of the past by joining a sisterhood who have common experiences and share in a common model of healing so that they may be continually growing as Indigenous women, and survivors. The focus of this retreat is to incorporate Traditional Cultural activities  such as beading, land based teachings, ribbon skirt making, smudging, sweats, and other more modern relaxing services, in order to aid in healing of the spiritual, emotional, physical and mental aspects.

"I'd like to say how very special the retreat to Manitou Sask was a few weeks ago, sitting in the springs/and the Lake .The event itself was stress free. The bus ride was a nice gesture...Very well organized and I'd definitely do it again if I had the opportunity. I had a huge shift in my energy that needed to happen. Can't wait to see what happens next...I loved meeting all my new found friends."
